While we’ve already seen a few grainy clips of Samsung’s Chromebook from Google I/O, here is a polished look at what’s in store coming June 15 when the Series 5 is available to the general public. Judging by this, it appears that Samsung will have greatly improved the Chrome OS hardware experience from the Cr-48 test device that was sent out by Google almost six months ago.

The question is: when is Acer going to start promoting their Chromebook?

There is a lot of potential for the use of Chromebooks in the workplace. Although the criticism is that Google’s subscription plan is too expensive for a three year plan per user, it seems that being able to deploy Chrome OS for very little upfront cost would be enticing. Add in the fact that the pricing includes a warranty, support and lifecycle replacement after three years and it seems there would be a lot of businesses that could be good candidates for Chromebooks. Remember, owning a traditional PC today is more like buying a car – there are a lot of hidden fees associated with ownership. Why not lease the hardware in an attempt to lower your overall cost?

Do you think Chromebooks for Business and Education is a good idea?

Google and Lady Gaga have certainly become cozy lately: the pop superstar made a visit to the Googlplex not too long ago. I almost fell out of my chair last night when I saw this Chrome ad, a bit unexpected but I would say but a very smart move by Google. We’ll continue to see a lot of marketing this summer for Chrome in an effort to make people aware of Google’s Chrome offerings.

How many more Chrome ads do you expect to see prior to the Chromebook launch?

Think that Chrome Web Store publishers aren’t seeing tangible benefits from putting their apps in there? You might want to see this forum clip from Google I/O with some developers that are seeing some awesome metrics as a result of doing so. Sure, the Chrome Web Store is taking time to build momentum, but building a resource for quality webapps simply takes time.

Samsung is going all out with Chrome OS, with a fit and finish on the Series 5 Chromebook far exceeding that of the Cr-48 pilot Chrome OS notebook that was given out by Google. In the company’s typical design fashion, this laptop takes some cues from its Galaxy Tab lineup of tablets. We can’t wait to see these release to seven countries starting on June 15.

With a starting price of $429, would you purchase a Series 5?

Video: Chrome Vulnerability Exposed

The following is a video by VUPEN Security that shows the Chrome browser on Windows 7 SP1 being exploited by going to a web page and then loading an executable, in this case the calculator. This shows that any sort of malicious program could conceivably be run just by going to a web page if this is true.

What’s curious is why VUPEN will not disclose what this vulnerability is to Google. If you know an exploit, Google will be pay you a reward for this if it is submitted by a person. Does VUPEN have more to perhaps gain by keeping this exploit a secret and selling it to its government customers as it says it is going to?

When we last saw Google advertise on TV, it was during the Super Bowl in 2010. Now the company has returned with a new spot that is focused on Chrome. There’s an interesting element to this, since this campaign called “The web is what you make of it” will be one of Google’s largest offline marketing efforts according to the New York Times.

How do you feel about Chrome advertising on TV? Interesting that it comes on the heels of the logo change, and right before Google I/O.

This video is a training session I did for users of Google Apps. If you are using Google’s productivity suite you’re better off using Chrome with all of the extra features that Google’s own browser throws in. This is also a great demo for those who don’t already use Chrome, or have just recently switched over as it goes through many of the basics you’ll need to know. I also discuss the Chrome Web Store and Chrome OS at the end.

Additionally, I will also be blogging/editing daily about Google Apps over at the newly created Google Apps Experts blog. If you’re using Google Apps, or maybe just thinking about switching to it check it out. If you read this blog, throw it in your RSS reader as well because you’ll probably get something useful out of it.

Do you use Google Apps right now?
