Chromoting Appears in Chromium

The ability to remote into another machine via the Chrome platform is known as “Chromoting” and has been seen in Chromium OS for some time. However, it appears that Google’s Chromium engineering team is now putting Chromoting into the “about:labs” section of the most recent builds of the Chromium browser.

Once you enable the Remoting option, you’ll be prompted to restart the browser. Clicking on the wrench after a restart brings up a “Set up remoting…” option.

You’re then prompted to sign in to you Google Account.

This doesn’t currently lead anywhere, however; I’m unsure at this point whether this is going to be a full-fledged browser option or if they are just testing it to see if it works in Chromium. However, this could be useful in situations where the browser is used on certain devices. Google TV comes to mind with Chrome running on the Android platform whereby a user would be able to remote into their machine through their television.
Should remoting, or rather Chromoting, come to the browser?
