Along with I suspect millions of others the ONLY reason I have not switched to chrome is lack of bookmarks sidebar. If only Google was not a tiny start-up without the necessary resources to implement such a change...

Nicely worded Sam, I agree 100%. Google isn't sneaky, there's absolutely nothing wrong with advertising, they could EASILY make their FREE services to the world PAID, but they keep it free. How? It's called ADS, and that's called BUSINESS. You try running all their servers without any income. -_- If they are so bad why don't you do better yourself?

Don't know if you answer personal technical questions . . . I have disabled Chrome PDF Reader plugin and just downloaded Adobe Reader 10.1.2, but the Adobe Reader does not appear in my plugins list. I have closed and reopened everything and restarted my computer, but it's not there. What am I doing wrong? Do I need something besides the Adobe Reader software?

I think the two most important things you forgot to review were the keyboard and touchpad. If the keyboard and touchpad are terrible on the acer, the samsung really is worth $80 more. Bad keyboards and touchpads ruin computers.

(I have an acer, for what it's worth, and I'd say the keyboard is okay and the touchpad isn't very good... though I've seen worse. Then again, that's just my computer. The chromebooks may be different. I sort of trust Samsung more on this -- they're a company that usually 'gets it' on hardware, while acer often skimps out on things.)

Finally, the SD card slot, on a computer that's otherwise fully dependent on the web, seems really important to me. With a 16 or 32 gig card, you can store music, video and important files and photos, just in case you're somewhere you can't access the cloud. Yeah, you could do that with a USB stick, too, but those break so much easier than an SD card that's simply left in the computer and not touched.
