Comparison: iPad Performance vs. Nexus One

So, how fast is the iPad? According to the hardware analysis site Anandtech not as fast as might have been expected. While the iPad’s custom designed A4 processor is faster than the Nexus One’s Qualcomm Snapdragon, the results don’t put the iPad that far ahead. Both the devices were compared with the iPhone 3GS and measured by how fast that each of them were able to load certain web pages.
The reviewer, Anand Lal Shimpi, writes that the “iPad loads web pages 10% faster than the Nexus One” and that “despite the early reports of the iPad being blazingly fast, I found it just “acceptable” in my limited time with it thus far”.
In fact, it may even be possible that with those results that the A4 is really not all that unique anyways. Regardless of that, if this chip were to be put into the next generation of iPhones, the Nexus One would be beat. Since the only way to compare the device is to load web pages, I wonder if Apple’s operating system with Safari is better refined and optimized than Android 2.1 and its namesake browser that is running on Nexus One.
So there you have it. Many reviews are glowing about the iPad being an amazing device, and I don’t discount that because of how profoundly different it is. And although the iPad and the Nexus One are hard to compare since they run in different segments (phone vs. tablet) speed is still a very important metric to measure in terms of user experience.

You were cherry-picking the review. That 10% statement was after excluding three sites that the Nexus took a long time to load. Here’s the rest of the quote: “If you include those three results the advantage grows to 22.5%.”
And since the title of your post is iPad vs. Nexus (and not A4 vs. Snapdragon) you should have mentioned the reviewers final point. That the graphics chipset embedded in the A4 is a “much better option” then the “aging ATI core” in the Snapdragon.

I’m not surprised. The Snapdragon is pretty impressive. I would like to have an Android based tablet, eventually!

Actually you should mention that nexus performance is optimized for smaller battery capacity. Most likely that performance is being sacrifice so that the battery run longer for the sake of:
1. Phone calls. Remember that N1 is a phone and Ipad is not.
2. Multitasking. Again N1 allow multitasking and IPad is sort of a single use device.
3. etc…
Anyway, due to IPad size it has larger battery and thus larger charge capacity. Yet N1 is a small device with small battery.
In short Anand comparison is really is apple and oranges. He admit this deficiency and highlight it in his review so that the reader can make up their own mind base on this fact.
Now, the problem with website like yours is just cherry picking part of Anand review .
At the end of the day your reader might say that I read from this website that say that Anand tech says that bla bla bla. They are misquoting the fact because your site is not giving all the information.
So the rumor balls start rolling and people will just parrot misinformation.
My advice to you is, read and present your fact carefully. Otherwise just don’t do it.
