What are your Top Reasons for installing an Alternate OS?
The main reasons why people dualbooted Chrome OS with another OS? I've wanted to do it because the main reason is I use Inkscape for graphic design and school work, but there is no good alternative (didn't like avairy) that I can use. I am still think about dual booting ubuntu (P.S. what things are buggy in ubuntu and does bluetooth work). P.S. do you guys think its right to install another os besides chrome OS?

One thing I would recommend is to email the creators of Inkscape and try to encourage them to make a build for this platform. If you do this, let them know that you would really like to use their software over the competitors, that as of January of this year, Chrome accounts for 23.8% of the market share and that often the people that are using Chrome are the users that will opt for the kind of product they are building and finally that when they create their program as an app for Chrome, it will allow people to use it on Windows, Mac as well as the Linux users since all have access to Chrome.
Back to whether or not people should install other operating systems on their Cr-48's I personally don't believe you should until the beta testing is over. However, I can understand some of the need/allure of doing so. My issue is that doing so for many users has ended up creating issues with Chrome OS that shouldn't have occurred and has created more work for the Ninjas to help solve the issues and also that doing so may reduce the usage time of Chrome OS which is not a good thing for anyone since it makes it less likely for all the bugs to be worked out.

I would think that a graphic design program like the one that you are talking about would require native client to be able to work. I have not used this software, but it would seem like that would take some effort to move it over to the cloud. It would pay off for the company over time though.

I forgot to mention for you to tell the company that with purchasing the application through the Chrome store, it will help prevent file sharing since it will be tied to the persons Google account.

I've thought about it after readling what you said I emailed the inkscape team about it and I won't install ubuntu because as a chrome tester I agreed that I would use it as my primary OS and personally having nearlly all of my apps in the cloud except one can't hurt(maybe just a little). Plus if I do install ubuntu its like telling google I didn't appreciate becoming a chrome tester and I don't want to do that. Thanks Reallunacy for helping me make my decision

Just a note.. Google did post a guide on installing Ubuntu on the Chromium site so I think they know this type of stuff is the norm...

My assumption is that they were tired of people screwing it up and wasting their time so they released a guide to do it the right way lol.

I really dont see the need for it really I mean installing ubuntu or alternative os's while its great to tinker with and do it simply because you can. It really takes away from the allure of chrome os and its quick capability of boot and access to the web.
I had the urge to install ubuntu because I could but the chances of corrupting the original partition and hassle of reinstalling it was a turn off for me. I do applaud those that have and have use for it on the hardware.I'm Here to help in any way, If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

This is exactly why Apple puts Boot Camp on all its laptops. They knew that windows users would be worried about using their apps on Mac, so they made it possible to run the OS. But I bet once people switched they didn't really use windows unless they used a real unique program or something.
