Google Demo Slam Coming Wednesday to Show Off “Awesome” Technology

Well, something interesting is surely going to be developing this Wednesday.
TechCrunch’s MG Siegler is reporting that a new site called Google Demo Slam is available, and heading over to the site it appears to be all about the fact that learning about a more interactive web should be way more fun than it is now. “Technology is awesome. Learning about it isn’t. Until now”. At least, that’s what the site itself says.
There could be a lot of speculation here on what this is about, but it seems pretty clear that this is going to be some sort of webapp competition. The site is interactive itself, with the audience in what appears to be an arena showing off signs when you hover over them.
It’s an odd little site, likely in place to capture attention. It will be great to see what kind of apps are shown off, as I’m convinced that this is a way to help get Chrome webapps off the ground and to help talk up the Chrome Web Store. But check it out yourself and decide. What do you think Google Demo Slam going to be?
UPDATE: HTML5 versus Flash here? The site is in Flash, so we’ll see. Google is pretty cozy with Adobe now that Flash is integrated into Chrome so it’s hard to say.
