Print Preview Arrives in Early Channels of Chrome

The print preview option first appeared in Chromium late last year, and it looks like we’re going to be seeing it hit the Stable Channel of Chrome fairly soon. Essentially, if you are already using version 12 of the browser you can get to the preview menu by enabling it in “about:flags” menu through your Omnibox.

Once you have that enabled and then go through a browser restart, you can then go to “Print…” from the wrench menu or you can hit CTRL+P to get to your print functions. After that, you’ll see a slick print preview page that loads up with all your options residing over to the left.
Many people have been waiting for print preview for some time, and while there may be some glitches here and there, I notice that the feature was working fine on a few pages I test. The fact that the preview automatically loads when you access the print menu is certainly a plus.
What do you think about the print preview function in Chrome? Do you like it, and is it a much-needed feature?

It’s about time! I don’t do a lot of printing but this will be a nice addition to Chrome…and I can’t wait for other browsers to copy this feature!

I still don’t see the ability to change margins or remove the header/footer. Isn’t that the point of print preview?

This is print preview for a web page. You would have to change those settings in a native application like Word.

3 years’ worth of requests for the ability to disable the header and footer when printing via a print preview function, and then when they finally do implement print preview, they’ve left out the ability to disable the header and footer.
